Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has denounced the recent threats issued by the Unity group to launch physical assaults against law professionals and justices.
According to the NBA, a recent meeting of the Unity managers decided to physically attack those law professionals as well as justices including Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha and Justice Bal Ram K.C who debated and issued verdicts against the Unity Group.
The Group had reportedly released a press statement on Thursday with the threats that it would start onslaught against some 50 people who opposed it.
The NBA stated that the Unity group decided to assault the law practitioners after forming a national unity front citing that the move is intended at helping Nepali people by "wiping out" 50 corrupt people.
The Association also urged the group to cease from issuing such threats that violate the human rights and the rule of law.
Meanwhile, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has suspected the involvement of Unity Group behind the hacking of the bank's website on Tuesday.
Due to the hacking, the central bank was unable to open a notice on action against Unity Life International (ULI) offices, which were operating under the umbrella of the Group.
We have blocked our website for the time being and will reopen it after taking appropriate measures, said NRB.
The Supreme Court (SC) has already termed the Unity Group, which is accused of swindling thousands of people off billions of rupees by running a flawed binary network marketing model based on the pyramid schemes as well as other public institutions like hospitals and banks, as illegal.
The Group is widely thought to have deep penetration in politics and the bureaucracy since there was initially unwarranted hesitation and dillydallying to take action against it. nepalnews.com
